AccessNFS Gateway
The superior NFS gateway for
Windows NT/2000/2003 integration
AccessNFS Gateway enables companies with a large Windows user base to purchase client seats depending on the number required to cover user demand at any given time. This allows you to dramatically reduce disk, memory, and administration expenses associated with installing an NFS client on every node!
With AccessNFS Gateway, a Windows NT or Windows 2000/2003 Server attaches to file and print resources using the industry-standard NFS protocol, then re-shares these devices with the Microsoft network as standard Windows networking SMB connections. Administrators gain centralized network control, and when it's time to upgrade, they need only update the server. Users gain easy, secure, and transparent access to NFS resources without learning new commands. Files remain on the NFS host system, so Windows and UNIX users gain access to files without duplicating data. Individual Windows user identities are mapped to NFS accounts as they are passed through the Gateway, ensuring security and maintaining file access privileges. With the ease and transparency of Gateway, SSC sets a new standard for integrating mixed networking environments. This Windows NT and 2000/2003 Server-based product is offered in configurations for 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, and unlimited user client seats - a flexible and cost-effective solution to your NFS client needs. NFS access is secure
AccessNFS Gateway eliminates clear-text NFS PC client password schemes, relying instead on the secure, encrypted C2 security native to the Windows network environment. The Windows NT/2000 Server provides a secure pass-through to the NFS-based server. The client can browse and mount as needed. Gateway is a boon for campus and dial-in sites - users have remote, secure access to NFS resources, maintaining separate identities as they pass through the Gateway. Access to Windows mounts is controlled by the Windows administrator, and NFS connection and file access privileges are controlled by the NFS server administrator.
AccessNFS Gateway is built on DiskAccess technology
Like SSC's premier NFS client software, DiskAccess for Windows, AccessNFS Gateway fully incorporates NFS into the Windows environment. You can streamline your operations by accessing resources more easily, reducing NFS server load, improving overall network performance, and minimizing NFS implementation and support costs. Working transparently with Network Neighborhood and Explorer, the Gateway easily mounts and accesses multilevel (deep) mount points. AccessNFS Gateway maximizes throughput with full support for NFS version 3 and 64K read-and-write packets. In addition, Gateway's multithreaded design ensures top performance under the multitasking 32-bit Windows NT/2000 operating system. Performance can be improved by dividing users among several Gateway servers or using higher speed processors, multi-processor systems, switched networks, or higher speed networks.

Save by buying only what you need.
If you have a 200-user site, you may need to provide NFS access for all of your users - but only for a handful of clients at any one time. Using AccessNFS Gateway, you can provide access for a specific number of users at a given time. Because AccessNFS Gateway allows a large base of Windows users to access UNIX and other NFS-based file servers through a single Windows Server, you can purchase only as many seats as you need or add to your Gateway user base as needed. This server-based product is offered in numerous configurations of client seats - a flexible and cost-effective solution to your NFS client needs. And the configurations are licensed concurrently, meaning that they're available for any combination of users as the need is determined.
