Computer Hardware Terms, Glossary and Dictionary contrast ratio A term used in computer monitors, contrast ratio is the measurement of the difference in light intensity between the brightest white and the darkest black. Typically, the higher the contrast ratio, the better of the information appears against the darker background. For example, Contrast ratio is 400:1 is better than 150:1.
