crossover cable

Crossover cable, also known as null-modem cable, refers to an Ethernet cable using RJ-45 connectors. One end of the cable is wired so that the Receive signal pins on one connector are connected to the Transmit signal pins on the other connector. A Crossover Cable may be used to connect two 10BaseT or 100BaseT network cards, basically making a network of two computers, for example.
