DAC: Digital-to-Analog converter Digital-to-Analog converter (DAC), also known as D/A converter, or D-to-A, is a device that convert a set of bits from a processor to an analog signal (current, voltage or charges) according to the digital input. D/A converters might be as simple as an array of resistors configured in the typical "R-2R" fashion or a hybrid module that generates very precise results with many bits of resolution. Simple switches, a network of resistors, current sources or capacitors may implement this conversion.
