Sempron Sempron is AMD's low-end CPU for desktop and mobile computing. It replaces the AMD Duron processor, and competes against Intel's Celeron D processor. Initial variants of Sempron were based on the Athlon XP's Thoroughbred/Thorton Core, with a 256 KB L2-Cache and 166 MHz Front side bus (FSB 333). The later introduced Sempron 3000+ is based on the Barton core and has 512 KB of L2-Cache.
