Asset Management and Reporting
LANsurveyor allows you to automate software and hardware inventory reports to save time and money, ensure licensing compliance, and plan effectively for system upgrades and modifications. Reports include application programs, OS version, CPU, RAM, disk volume capacity, available free space, and more than one hundred other system data.
In order to access asset management data, Neon Responders must be installed. Refer to Tutorial #1: Install Neon Responders for installation instructions or visit the Neon Responder web page for more information on Neon Responders.
Step 1 of 6: Draw a Map
Use the map you created in Draw Your Network Map or create a new map that includes the Neon Responders you would like to manage. Make sure you select the Neon Responder option in the TCP/IP services section of the Create New Network Map dialog box.

Step 2 of 6: Highlight Neon Responders
Select the Neon Responders you would like to include in your inventory report. You can either shift-click on each computer or use LANsurveyor's Navigate menu to select the computers you would like to include. (You can always add more computers to the report later by selecting the computers' icons on the map and clicking the "Add" button on the report window.)

Step 3 of 6: Create Spreadsheet Report
LANsurveyor allows you to create custom reports. Once you create the reports, you can save the report templates and export the reported data in tab-delimited text format.
Select New Spreadsheet from the Report menu.

Click the Add Field button to select the data you would like to include in your report.

You can mix software and hardware information in the same report and include the custom information from any notes you have stored using the Store Notes option on the Manage menu.

Step 4 of 6: Run the Report
Click the Run Report button.

Schedule the report to either run immediately or at a time you specify.


Step 5 of 6: Export the Data
Once the asset report is run, you can save the report in a tab-delimited text file. Select Export from the File menu and name the file you'd like to create.

Step 6 of 6: Save Your Spreadsheet
You can also save your spreadsheet template with the Save Spreadsheet option in the Report menu. into a file that can be opened in the future by selecting Open Spreadsheet from the Report menu. Select Save Spreadsheet from the Report menu.

Once the spreadsheet is saved, you can run another report in the future by selecting Open Spreadsheet from the Report menu. |
