CyberGauge Alert Options
This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide for configuring CyberGauge's Alert options to help you monitor and protect your network.
If you plan to use email alerts, configure your SMTP settings in the CyberGauge preferences (Edit>Preferences) first.
Step 1 of 4: Open Alerts Dialog
Select "Alerts..." from the "Edit" menu to view the Alerts Dialog box. The first time you edit alerts, only the default alert will be displayed.

Step 2 of 4: Create Your Alert
CyberGauge has several different alert options: pager, email, "net send", and SNMP trap. Just check the box next to your desired options and enter your information in the appropriate places.

You can use the "net send" command to send text messages from a Windows computer across a network to another Windows computer. You can also integrate CyberGauge with your SNMP-based network monitoring system by having CyberGauge send SNMP traps to communicate with your monitoring system.
Click on the "Test Alert" button to make sure your alert settings are correct. You may have to adjust your SMTP email settings in the CyberGauge preferences (Edit>Preferences).
Step 3 of 4: Create Multiple Alerts
If you have different people monitoring different devices or if some of your interfaces have higher priorities than others, customize your alerts to match your requirements.
Click on the "Default" alert name and then click "Duplicate".

Enter a descriptive name for your new alert (e.g., "Server").

Now, customize this alert for people who should be notified in case CyberGauge finds a problem.
You may create as many different alerts as you would like. Close the dialog box by clicking on the OK button.
Step 4 of 4: Use Your Custom Alerts
Bring up the charting window for the interface you would like to modify, and then click on the "Configure" button.

Now click on the "Alerts" tab to set alert conditions for this interface. You may select different alerts for responsiveness and bandwidth settings.
